The best weekend ever, Part Three

On Saturday, Megan, Camryn, and I had another quiet morning until Kenny got home from work and we all decided to hit a restaurant Megan had missed while in Oregon. We tucked the wee one into her carrier in the back seat, then headed off to Café Rio for lunch. Sleepy little Camryn ate and dozed during lunch, while the rest of us laughed, talked, and enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine. Then we figured a trip to the mall was in order (especially since Uncle Kenny needed his favorite vanilla drink from Nordstrom) and took some time to play with Camryn at Nordstrom Café. (See videos!) While Megan perused the latest styles at the Gap, I called our favorite professor, Dr. Sederholm, to see if we could come to his house, show off Camryn, and catch up. We sped to Dr. Sederholm's house after Megan decided against buying a shirt at the Gap (a tough decision, I know) and thoroughly loved our visit. We talked about Halloween, Dr. Sederholm's Gothic Lit class this semester, scary movies, Camryn, Dr. Sederholm's cat, Tabby (who made an unexpected appearance and who was very sweet-looking), rock music, guitars, and what Dr. Sederholm's family has been up to. I love going to Dr. Sederholm's house - some of my sweetest memories of BYU were getting together with my (or Megan's) Gothic Lit class for a spooky fall evening of chilling scary movies in the Sederholm family movie room. I assured Dr. S that should he ever consider selling his home he needs to call me right away. I love that house! We had such a great time chatting and laughing that even Kenny, who was tired from a long day at work and really wanted nothing other than to crash at home, remarked on how nice it was to visit Dr. Sederholm and talk about books. "It would be nice to read more and really get into books," he mused as we drove home. "All I ever read are tech specs!" We settled in at home for pizza and the movie "Dan In Real Life," which Megan had really enjoyed and wanted to share with us. We played with Camryn, watched Steve Carrell by candlelight, and wished Megan and Camryn's visit could last so much longer. What a wonderful day, and what an incredible weekend.

Little Camryn sitting next to her mom as we eat breakfast. What a beautiful girl!

Uncle Kenny carrying Camryn to Café Rio - aren't they cute?

Mmm, Camryn likes ice cubes!

But we're not so sure about lemons!

Suddenly it was Sunday morning, and we were packing all of Camryn's accoutrements in the trunk and heading off to the airport. We parked and managed to schlep all of Megan and Camryn's things through check-in and breathlessly get everyone to the security gate. There I waved a tearful goodbye to Megan and a sleeping Camryn and waited until I could no longer see them before I turned around, wiped my eyes, and headed back home and to Nursery class.

This was one of the best weekends I have ever had. Megan and Camryn filled up our home so much, pouring light and laughter and delight into every nook and cranny and making me smile in wonder. I never knew that such a little girl could bring me so much happiness. I have noticed that our home is a little too quiet and a little too empty without precious, sweet little Camryn and hilarious, bubbly Megan. I can hardly wait to hold that Tiny Girl in my arms again, coax out those smiles, and bask in that laughter! Megan and Camryn, we miss you!!!

Check out my blog too - I would love to keep in touch!
