Summer Fun, Part 1

When one forgets to download pictures from one's camera, whole episodes of summer fun get passed over until the leaves start to turn!  Here are some delightful adventures from our summer for you to enjoy:

Ducky Day!

Jim has been busy plotting for a grand fête to take place in November with regard to his position as the Chief Building Official of Clark County, and as part of his party prep - and also due to his love of duckies, with which he regales Camryn in stories and toys - Jim decided to bake a trial run of ducky cupcakes to see how they might turn out.

Kenny thought he might help, and the two of them - and me, very briefly - stirred and dipped and sliced and poked and baked until a whole flock of duckies emerged from the oven as yellow as puddles of sunshine!

(Secret ingredients besides cupcake batter, yellow dye, and frosting - doughnut holes, marshmallows, and orange Starburst candies!)

Oh, look!  Jim and Ken are wearing matching t-shirts:

Guys baking take their work very seriously.

They can see!

A puddle of delicious sunshine!

I seriously don't know how they did it--I can't even make regular cupcakes with frosting look good. I'm not exaggerating--my cupcakes fall in the middle and the frosting pools in the center. Yuck. Jim must teach me his secret!

Meredith - I'll bet they tasted as delicious as the goodies you routinely create in your kitchen! I know - we should have a bake-off between the Eby and Muir/Baldwin houses, and I'll be the judge!

Megan, the key here was freezing the cupcakes for a bit so they cooled properly, then dipping them in frosting (which was made a bit thicker than usual and kept in a deep bowl). That way, the entire cupcake was completely and smoothly covered in frosting!
