Fall Adventures in Tualatin

It's around this time of year - the crisp, colorful fall - where I really start to miss Megan and all the fun we have together.  We just understand fall - and Halloween, which goes without saying.  So I took a walk yesterday to document the remarkable brilliance of Oregon autumn, which I grew up with for 18 years but never really realized was so filled with so many splashes of color besides green and brown.  I wandered up the street to 98th Avenue, a favorite trick-or-treat haunt, over to Siletz Drive by Dad's house, down to Boones Ferry and up all the way to our high school and the LDS church.  Turning around, I headed back home, playing the tree paparazzi all the way, and stopped at Kawanda Court, where Megan and I used to trek just about every summer day to play with our best friend Meredith and, while she lived just across the street during middle school, our friend Megan.  I noticed with a smile that the Wickers still live on the same street, where their son Andrew used to hang around outside in the summer before our freshman year in high school, hoping to see Megan walk by while he played basketball.  Ah, what great memories!  And what fabulous, haunting fall colors!  Halloween is just around the corner....

(Editor's note: this blog post is possessed and won't let me align it properly, so I have given up trying to correct it!)

Starting out....

Siletz Drive, where we grew up.

A beautiful nature park, where I was not allowed to go play with my friends who wanted to write and film a movie in the woods.  Because they were boys and I was, in fact, a girl.

Across the street, our friend Megan's old house.  I always dreamed of owning it someday....

The boy who would play basketball in the summer while waiting for Megan to walk by lived in the house just behind the colorful trees and bushes.  I walked by and noticed his parents still live there.

Good shots and nice framing! It is amazing how well the color comes through!

Oregon really is beautiful!

You don't want to buy Megan's old house. The neighbors on either side are CRA-ZY! And the street is much less desirable since I moved away (ha ha).

Thanks, all! Taking that walk and those photos made for one of the best days ever. Can someone please explain to me why NOW it is sunny and gorgeous outside and I am stuck inside with a cold that has turned me into a zombie???

And yes, Meredith, you moving away has pretty much gouged the neighborhood of all its attractiveness. Thanks a ton!!! : P

Ahhh, Andrew. I could never figure out why he was interested in me,a s I was SOOO not his type. And that was actually before our sophomore year of school. I remember because we were in jazz band together.

And yes, Melinda, Oregon IS pretty!!! I agree.
