Niagara Falls is an incredibly beautiful and breathtaking area. At first I was only able to see the American Falls section, which was incredible enough. We lingered at the spot, gazing over the falls and marveling at the power of the water as it hurtled over the cliff and onto the rocks below. Then Kenny and I felt a little more adventurous and discovered that the massive bridge jutting out over the water and affording a much better view of the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side of Niagara was something we could go on without paying any money. Awesome! It gave me a few full-body willies venturing out on such an incredibly gigantic structure, but hey, to see more of the falls it was worth it!
That is, until we discovered that taking the Maid of the Mist boat right into the Horseshoe Falls was actually really inexpensive. Kenny and I practically ran down the walkway that zigzagged down the ragged cliffs to don bright blue ponchos and jump up and down excitedly at the dock. The ride into the falls was breathtaking - we passed the American Falls and headed straight into the Horseshoe Falls, where mist gave way to complete white. It was incredible to be surrounded by pure white light and water.
We celebrated our adventure at the Twist of the Mist, this awesome and totally kitschy ice cream stand just outside the main visitors center. Kenny is still raving about the cherry dip cones! (They also had key lime dip cones, but I had to go for vanilla with Reese's pieces.) You can see a shot of the Twist of the Mist in the wedding episode of "The Office!"

A great view! The falls were cool to look at, too:
Tiny people clambering up the cliff in the haze of American Falls. It reminded me so much of the hiking trails at the Pacific coast.
It's so exciting!
